The sixth round of the 2014 Investchem Formula Ford Kent Championship takes place at Zwartops Raceway on 11 October when the Midas Historic Tour pays its third visit of the season to the circuit west of Pretoria.

Matthys Strydom (Sage Talon) has been the man to beat in the previous visits to Zwartkops taking pole position and overall victory on both occasions. He will be looking for a repeat performance on Saturday as he tries to close the five-point gap between himself and championship leader Ian Schofield (Investchem Mygale).

Graham Hepburn (Suburban Body Shop Ray) is third on the championship log just three points behind Strydom. At the last round of the championship, held at Phakisa in driving rain, Hepburn managed a second place despite a couple of off-track excursions. Hepburn has been the man on the move since joining the championship at the third round amassing 40 points, more than any other driver in the same time period.

Behind the leading trio Andrew Schofield (Investchem Reynard) is in fourth place on the ladder and will be looking to build on the first Formula Ford win he scored last time out in the rain at Phakisa. Andreas Petrou (Investchem Reynard) is three points behind the younger Schofield in fifth place with Ben van der Westhuizen in the Delta Rubber / Pioneer Plastics Royale another two points further back.

Andrew Horne (Xena Chemicals / Investchem Royale) will be making a welcome return to the series and could use the experience he has gained competing in the national series to upset the order at the head of the field.

Just one round will remain when the drivers leave Zwartkops on Saturday evening and the day’s racing could have a decisive impact on the outcome of the 2014 championship.

Qualifying will take place at 07h20 with the first of the two 10-lap races scheduled for 10h35. Race 2 should get underway at 14h10.
