It is with unfathomable sadness and deep regret we have to announce the passing of Donny Lamola. Donny was admitted to hospital and sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning. Donny overcame so much and was such an inspiration to so many people.
Donny had a steadfast determination in all she put her mind to! Watching her first improving on the race track, then after her stroke determined to see herself back in a race car, she worked on her strength and mind set day in and day out! It was not easy, as you can imagine, and she had her ups and downs.
Donny coached a football team called the Franschhoek Spurs. She was proud of her team and had so much passion for them and she was not afraid to put the time and dedication into HER team! She loved talking about their successes and progress, drafted sponsorship proposals, did everything she could to ensure their success! In fact, after her stroke, we all truly believed she would miss football more than motorsport.
But, in fact, the hardest part of Donny’s stroke was not racing with us again! It was all she wanted to do, to be back on the field with her family. Ian and Kay Schofield gave Donny all the love and support and did everything in their power to help. Their unwavering support allowed her to achieve some tremendous moments to be proud of, like driving around Kyalami during the Festival of Motoring back in 2018 and driving up the Knysna hill.
Her family, her motorsport family, her friends and all who knew her will truly miss Donny. Among the many things that Donny taught us, perhaps the most important is to fight for our dreams and never give up!!!
To Ian, Kay, Hendrik and all the family, we pass on our most sincere condolences.

Best friend of my daughter and a friend by association to many. It was so exciting earlier this year when she made a surprise appearance at my daughter’s Touch Rugby tournament to give her support. We were all so happy to see her after all she went through. The smile on everyone’s face, the joy. Least did we know that this moment will come so soon.
May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace and rise in glory.🤲🏽
