The opening round of the 2015 Investchem Formula Ford Kent Championship will take place at the Kyalami circuit in Midrand on Saturday, 7 March 2015. With at least twenty cars expected to line up on the grid, including all of last year’s top championship contenders, the action is sure to be fast and furious.
Champion Graham Hepburn (Suburban Body Shop Ray) will be looking to continue the good form he showed at Kyalami last year – he won all four races he started and claimed two pole positions – when he starts his title defence.
2014 runner up Ian Schofield (Investchem Mygale) will be looking to reclaim the title he won in 2013 and will be out to halt Hepburn’s run of victories as will Matthys Strydom (Sage / ERP Africa Talon) who ended the 2104 championship in third place.
Andrew Schofield (Investchem Reynard) showed some serious pace in his debut season last year and fourth place in the championship was a fitting reward. He is certainly capable of running at the head of the field as his win at Phakisa last year confirmed. Andrew Horne (Xena Chemicals / Budd Power Royale) did not compete for most of the season last year, but the 2013 championship runner up will be out to show that he can be a contender again.
David Jermy (Matt Nash Motorsport van Diemen) only joined the series towards the latter part of the 2014 season but showed some serious pace. He is also expected to be up with the leaders on Saturday.
The cars will head out onto the track for their 15 minute qualifying session at 09h00. The first of the two 8-lap races should get underway at 12h25 with the second scheduled to start at 16h35.
