Graham Hepburn leads Ian Schofield and Matthys Strydom

The final round of the 2014 Investchem Formula Ford Kent Championship takes place at the Kyalami circuit in Midrand on Saturday, 8 November 2014. At the last visit to the historic circuit back in July Graham Hepburn (Suburban Body Shop Ray) won both races and took pole position to move up to third on the championship log.

Since then he has consistently scored more points than his rivals and, although still in third place on the log, has a realistic chance of taking the championship if he keeps the momentum going. Defending champion Ian Schofield (Investchem Mygale) is just five points ahead of Hepburn and four ahead of Matthys Strydom (Sage Talon) and, with a maximum of 22 points on offer on the day, any of the three could walk away with the title.

While Andrew Schofield (Investchem Reynard) in fourth place is too far adrift to mount a challenge for the title, he has shown some serious pace in his debut season – his win at Phakisa in the rain confirming that – and should run up with the leaders.

Andrew Horne (Xena Chemicals / Investchem Royale) only rejoined the series at the last event at Zwartkops so is not in contention for the championship, but he is another driver likely to be running at the sharp end of the field.

The fight for fifth in the championship is between Andreas Petrou (Investchem Reynard), Ben van der Westhuizen (Delta Rubber / Pioneer Plastics Royale) and Matt Nash (Van Diemen). The trio are separated by just three points and the slightest mistake by any of them will be punished by their rivals.

The cars will head out onto the track for their 15 minute qualifying session at 08h40. The first of the two 8-lap races should get underway at 11h35 with the second scheduled to start at 15h35.
