After a break of almost two months, the drivers and teams of the 2016 Investchem Formula Ford Kent Championship head down to Dezzi Raceway for the third round on Saturday, 4 June.

For the second time this year the drivers will be faced with learning a new circuit as most of them have not been to the 2.1 km circuit just outside Port Shepstone on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. Coupled with this will be the challenge of tuning the Kent motors to perform at sea level.

Andrew Horne (Xena Chemicals / Budd Power Royale RP31) and Ian Schofield (Investchem Mygale) have shared the race wins this season but Schofield has experienced problems in the second race in both rounds so trails Horne by 14 points on the championship log.

David Jermy (Matt Nash Motorsport Van Diemen) had a good start to the season at the opening round at Red Star but could not repeat that performance at Zwartkops. He is in third place on the championship log and will be looking to consolidate that position at Dezzi. Dalan Holton (Debella Finance van Diemen) trails Jermy by just three points and could spoil Jermy’s plans.

Andy Schofield (Investchem Reynard) and Jeff Gable (Taylon Motorsport Van Diemen) are tied for fifth place a point further back although business commitments have prevented Schofield from making the trip down to the coast.

Dean Venter (Turnfab Engineering / Manitou Group Mygale) is another driver who followed up a great opening round with a disappointing performance at Zwartkops. He will be out to regain his early season form and move up from his current seventh place on the log.

Both Paul Schultz (Knottsbury Foods van Diemen) and Allen Meyer (Van Diemen) have shown pace this season and could be near the front if they get to grips with the unfamiliar circuit.

There are 12 cars on the entry list and they will treat fans to some spectacular single seater racing.

As usual Friday will be a practice day with qualifying getting underway at 09h05 on Saturday morning. The first of the two 14-lap races should get underway at 12h00, with the second one scheduled for 15h45.
