Single-seater racing action takes place at Killarney Raceway on Saturday, September 24, with the Investchem Formula Ford contesting round six of their 2016 national championship. Six consecutive race victories sees Dewald Brummer (4 – MAD Racing / Ango Trucks / Fuchs Oils) enter the Killarney event with the championship lead.

At the Cape Town event, Julian van der Watt (42 – Race Driver SA) will be chasing Brummer in a bid to close down that lead. Van der Watt is keeping the pressure on Brummer, finishing second to almost every race win Brummer gets and also has three race wins of his own.

That puts him a strong second in the championship with a 12-point gap to the leader.

Dean Venter (77 – MAD Racing / Ango Trucks / Fuchs Oils) holds third place overall after the first five rounds of the Investchem Formula Ford season and will have to be on pace if he hopes to protect that spot. Venter has Alex Gillespie (50 – ERP Trucking Solutions) breathing down his neck, just five points behind.

Gillespie has had a remarkably consistent run this season and this has allowed him to keep the pressure on. Venter will have to keep things neat at Killarney if he doesn’t want to open the door to Gillespie later this season.

For the Cape Town event, the Investchem Formula Ford series will add two unknown quantities to the entry list. Claudio Piazza Musso and Tristan de Nobrega will enter the fray at Killarney, adding an extra dynamic to the event.

Bringing some karting knowledge to the mix, along with their other motorsport experience, the pair could mix things up and play an unexpected role in the championship outcome.

There have been some great battles on track this season, with the Investchem Formula Ford racers pushing each other for every available inch of track space. It has resulted in exciting race moments with wheel-to-wheel action that has teetered on the very brink of potential disaster.

Just three rounds remain in the 2016 championship for the Investchem Formula Ford competitors. The Killarney outing on Saturday, September 24, is one of those and the fight for the title is a long way from over. With at least four drivers battling for the top three championship positions, the action on track is likely going to result in a tense and exciting race meeting.

Motorsport fans who enjoy precision driving and fine car control have a treat in store when the Investchem Formula Ford field take to the circuit to contest their two races at the Killarney event, with the track offering a mix of high-speed straights and tight, twisty sections to test the drivers on every lap.
