Dewald Brummer (MAD Racing / Ango Trucks / Fuchs Oils) has won the last four races in the 2016 Investchem Formula Ford championship and will be looking to keep his winning streak going when he takes to the track at Zwartkops on Tuesday, 9 August for round five of the championship.
It was at Zwartkops, on Youth Day, where he started his run of wins. On that occasion he had to fight off the vastly experienced Rick Morris (Investchem) to take victory in the day’s first race. He had things a bit easier in race two, finishing in front of championship rival Julian van der Watt (Investchem). Unfortunately, due to injuries sustained in a bicycle accident, Morris will not be at Zwartkops on Women’s Day.
Brummer continued his winning run at the East London Grand Prix Circuit, taking both wins from van der Watt and extending his championship lead to eight points. While van der Watt is his main rival in the title race, Brummer will also have an eye on Dean Venter (MAD Racing/Fuchs Oils/Ango Trucks) and Alex Gillespie (Mbotyi River Lodge) who are consistently running near the head of the field and occupy third and fourth spots on the log.
In the over 50 category Allen Meyer is likely to end Morris’ dominance. Headed into the Zwartkops round he is just a point behind and, barring a catastrophe, should be in the lead come Tuesday afternoon.
