Final round action in the South African Single-Seaters (SASS) will see the national Formula Ford competitors tackling their last two races for 2015 at Zwartkops Raceway on Saturday, November 7.

At this point in the championship, with seven rounds completed, it is Robert Wolk (41 – Chemical Logistics Mygale) that is the obvious favourite to succeed at the final round. Wolk leads the championship, enjoying a 17 point lead over his rivals.

It is going to be extremely difficult to unseat Wolk from his current position, but this is unlikely to deter Julian van der Watt (42 – Investchem) who is the current second-place racer in the championship. With 10 points for each race win, Van der Watt might not be able to close the gap to Wolk but, based on his performances during this season, he won’t be taking it easy at the last event.

This season has been marked by intense competition between Wolk, Van der Watt and also Keagan Masters (44 – Performance Masters). Masters has an opportunity at the last event to turn the tables on Van der Watt, potentially sneaking into a second-place finish and changing the look of the overall championship at the last moment.

There are small battles that will be decided amongst the SASS field at this final event. While they might not be for overall honours, they will be important to the competitors involved. Dean Venter and Alex Gillespie are a good example, the pair have just four points between them and the victor in this battle wille overall.

With the high temperatures expected on race day, the racers will be hard at work to keep their cool, maximise grip, deal with the race-day challenges and finish their national motorsport season in the best way possible.

The single-seater racers will end the season where they started – at Zwartkops Raceway – chasing every single point just as eagerly as at round one. Race fans can look forward to an exciting day of action as these competitors push the limits of their thoroughbred racing machines.
